Tattooing became part of my life in an unlikely place. Working with limited equipment and a single needle taught me patience, precision, creativity, and respect for the process.
Over time, tattooing became much more than making images on skin. It connected me with people from backgrounds and cultures very different from my own. Hours spent drawing, tattooing, talking and exchanging ideas taught me that some of the strongest connections between people can begin with something as simple as creating art together.
Tattooing also became a form of expression for me. There’s a certain tranquility in focusing completely on a piece—when everything else gets quiet and the only thing that matters is the line in front of you. I’ve seen tattoos represent memories, identity, loss, struggle, humor, pride, or sometimes simply an image somebody thinks looks cool. All of those reasons are valid.
My foundation is in single-needle work, where limitations demanded patience and creativity. That experience continues to influence the way I draw and the way I approach tattoo art today.
Ink Junkie 216 is my personal portfolio—a place to share my work, document my growth as an artist, and tell the story of where tattooing has taken me and where it takes me next.
Ink Junkie 216 is the personal artist portfolio of Matty B and is not a body art establishment. Tattoo services displayed on this site are performed only through appropriately approved body art establishments where the artist is authorized to work.
